1st International UN Military Observer Course Closing Ceremony


The closing ceremony of the 1st International UN Military Observer Course organized by Centre for International Peace & Stability (CIPS) was held at NUST main Campus on November 7, 2014.

UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Pakistan, Mr Timo Pakkala, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The three week course was attended by officers from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Zambia and Zimbabwe. 22 Pakistani officers, including one from Pakistan Navy and two from the JAG Department qualified. Diplomats and defence attache and representatives of UN agencies also attended the event.  A team from the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations was on hand to monitor the course and recognize the training. 

On completion of this course, CIPS has become a centre of excellence for peacekeeping training in the region.
