Team ‘GeoThermal Pakistan (GTP)’ of NUST Institute of Civil Engineering (NICE), declared winner at ClimateLaunchpad Pakistan Finals – a European Union's Global Green Business Idea Competition, held at Karachi on August 31, 2019. The NUST team outshined over 100 teams from around the country, and stood as national winners. The team is all set to represent Pakistan in the Global Final, which is to be held at Amsterdam, Netherlands, on November 14-15, 2019.
ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest Global Green Business Ideas Competition, which came to Pakistan for the first time this year, as part of Clean-Tech Innovation Conference. A distinguished panel from top notch businesses, judged the competing teams. Mr Amin Aslam, Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change, was the Chief Guest at the competition.
Team GTP, incubated at National Incubation Center, Islamabad, comprises Muhammad Hassamuddin, NUST Alumnus, Bachelor in Engineering (BE) Class of 2015 & CEO/Founder of Rasai Technologies, and Abdul Wahab Safdar, NUST Alumnus, Masters in Engineering (ME) Class of 2019 & Co-Founder at GeoThermal Pakistan & HempCo R&D. The team introduced their revolutionary and indigenous product Geo AirCon® as a solution to the prevalent costly, inefficient and polluting air conditioners (ACs). Geothermal Air-Conditioner or Geo AirCon not only reduces the associated carbon footprint of ACs, but also makes them more efficient and affordable.
NUST congratulates the Team GTP for bringing pride to the nation, and wishes them best of luck for the final. May the odds be in your favour
