NUST Media Club (NMC) in collaboration with NUST Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) held a lecture on Foreign Services, on Wednesday, October 29, 2015, at NUST Business School (NBS Seminar Hall).
Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, Additional Foreign Secretary (Admin) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been invited to speak to the students about joining the Foreign Services of Pakistan as a career. Dr Safdar Ali Shah, Director Publishing and Students Affairs; Dr Rifaat Hussain, Head of Department of Government and Public Policy, School of Social Sciences & Humanity (S3H); Dr Tughral Yameen, Dean CIPS and a large number of students from all over NUST were present at the event.
President NMC, Zaryab Hassan, opened the event by welcoming Ambassador Jauhar Saleem to NUST. The Ambassador began his lecture with a video clip covering all major aspects of Foreign Service followed by a detailed explanation. He said that the Foreign Services of Pakistan, though very small in number compared to other countries’ services, was a very efficient department, as agreed upon by analysts as well.
This was followed by an interactive session with the students wherein they inquired about the joining procedure and the structures of the Ministry which were addressed by the guest in thorough detail.
In the end, Dr Safdar Ali Shah thanked the Ambassador for coming to NUST to share valuable information with the students and presented him with a memento.
