Meet Bilawal Mushtaq,
student of Bachelors in Materials Engineering at NUST School of Chemical & Materials
Engineering (SCME), who has recently completed his internship at the German
Aerospace Centre (DLR), Cologne, Germany. DLR is the national aeronautics and
space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the only place on
earth from where the Electromagnetic Levitation experiment on international
space station could be directly controlled.
Levitation is an important experiment in Materials Science and is performed not
only on earth under normal gravity conditions, but also on parabolic flights
and on Space Station.
“I was lucky enough to
work with the most skilled scientists of the world, and got the opportunity to
use high tech equipment in my research work,” said Bilawal. He also visited the
European Astronaut Center (ESA) during his stay, which is the home to European
The NUST family sends
their warmest appreciation to Bilawal Mushtaq & Dr Ahmed, on their research
in the container-less solidification of high entropy alloys. We wish them the
best in all their future endeavours!
