As part of the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) five-day sports gala celebration, members and course participants of NUST Community Service Club (NCSC) visited the Sports Complex (Jinnah Stadium) Islamabad on 23 March, 2014 (Sunday) to celebrate Pakistan Day. Approximately 200 students from NUST spent time at the venue and interacted with the children.
The orphaned children of PBM’s Sweet Home project between the age group of 4 to 6 presented the Pakistan Day Parade. The children came from various schools across the country to participate in the 5-day festivities. To commemorate Pakistan Day, children belonging to Sukkur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Swat, Gilgit etc. represented their cultures through various regional acts and cultural performances. They were dressed in cultural attires of their respective areas and won the audience’s appreciation. Students from NUST enthusiastically appreciated the children’s zeal and dedication to take part in the festivities.
A number of dignitaries including Managing Director PBM Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh and Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Sweet Homes and PPP leader Zamurd Khan lauded the efforts of the children. In the end, trophies were distributed amongst the top position holders of the various sports events that took place previously. The MD thanked the NUST students for their support and participation in the Pakistan Day celebrations.
